Almost all shoes that are in stock on Sanctum Shoes can also be custom made. There are two options for custom shoes: made-to-measure (MTM) and made-to-order (MTO).

Made-to-order (MTO) vs. made-to-measure (MTM)

We offer two kinds of customization for shoes and boots. The first kind is the total customizable boot where not only colour, material and options can be customized, but also the sizing of ankle, calf, knee and thigh circumference and the height of the shafts. This full custom option is called a "made-to-measure" order, or MTM in short. 

If you know your legs fit our regular shoe and leg sizes, you do not need any size adjustments for your ankles. calfs, knee and thighs. You can then choose a "made-to-order" boots, or MTO in short. A MTO boot is a bit cheaper to make because we can use the standard lasts and measurement sheets. 

This is the reason why we ask you to provide your foot and leg measurement for MTM orders. We will not ask your measurements for MTO orders. 

What are options on made-to-measure and made-to-order shoes? 

​Almost all shoes in our shop that are made in Italy can be customized. The customizations that you can choose without adjusting any measurements are: 

• material: nappa leather, calf leather, patent leather, suede, python leather in all colours
• sole colour: standard beige leather or black; but also in shiny red, pink, apple green, dark blue, light blue and purple. 

Customization only available for made-to-measure boots

Real luxury is having your Italian leather boots made to measure for your legs. There is nothing more pleasant (well almost) than the feeling of leather around your legs that is tight, but not too tight. For several of our leather boots we have options to make the shaft to your measurements. These boots can be made to fit the exact size of your ankles, calfs and thighs. 

What can be adjusted: 

• ankle, calf, knee, thigh and crotch circumference
• minor adjustment in the shoe last fit (vamp width, foot width)
• heel type: metal, covered, lacquer heels
• adjustments like zipper placement
• V-shape cut in at the back and top of the shaft (musketeer style) 

There are lot's of options to make boots to measure. Please make a choice of your preferred model from our shop first and then contact us. Send us your measurements (see below how to take your sizes) and tell us what you are looking for. We try to find the factory that can make your boots.  

Please note: return policy is different for MTO and MTM

Please take into account that shoes that are made-to-order or made-to-measure can not be returned for exchange or refund. Only in case of imminent production faults, custom made-to-order and made-to-measure footwear can be exchanged.  

The delivery time for custom footwear is at least 4 weeks up to 12 weeks maximum, depending on the model, materials, sizes and factory.
